11 Ways To Completely Revamp Your Stroller All Terrain

11 Ways To Completely Revamp Your Stroller All Terrain

Best All Terrain Stroller

All terrain strollers are a great option if you like running through rocky trails or strolling around parks with grassy areas. You'll need big, durable tires with suspension that are able to handle the rough terrain.

All terrain strollers allow to instill a love of nature in your child. We assess the the ease of use and maneuverability. This includes the ability to open the basket, engage the brakes, and insert and remove an infant seat (where applicable).

The Best Overall Stroller

If you plan to use a stroller to transport your child for many years it must be more than just a means of getting them from A to B. Strollers are more prolific than rabbits. A stroller that can handle your entire family's outings is a wise investment.

The Nuna MIXX Next can do everything and more: It works from birth, thanks to its baby-friendly flat recline. It has a compact fold to make it easy to store and can roll smoothly over grass, sidewalks and cobblestone. The lightweight PIPA Urbn car seat is also available as part of a set for a complete travel solution. It's more expensive than our other choices, however our tester said that it was worth it because it's tough and can withstand even the most challenging outings.

Three-wheelers are a great option for a stroller that is light and can also handle more rough terrain. The Thule Shine is a great choice, and we have named it the previous winner in this category. It's a little more expensive than some of our other picks but it's solid and has plenty of options (car seat compatibility! dual cup holders!) This makes it a worthwhile purchase. It can also be folded to fit in the overhead bins of airplanes, making it an excellent choice for families that travel a lot.

Wendy Schmitz, Senior Review Editor at Baby Gear Reviews, has been reviewing strollers for more than two year. She and our product testing team push, run, fold and lift each stroller to evaluate its functionality, performance, and comfort. All of them are moms and understand the importance of having a reliable stroller for everyday use as well as family outings. This year, we widened our test pool to include five stroller and parenting experts: Lisa Trofe, executive director of the Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association; Kyleyn Gosewisch, customer care specialist at strolleria, a retailer focused on strollers; Marielle Marquez, pediatric occupational therapist; Holly Choi, cofounder and co-owner of Safe Beginnings First Aid, an organization that provides child safety tools and Sarah Huff, senior manager of community and customer relations at BabyQuip, an infant stroller and baby equipment rental business.

The BOB Sport Utility

The BOB Sport utility is a great stroller to use if you want to get off the beaten track and exercise. This jogging stroller comes with pneumatic knobby wheels that are ideal for trail runs, as well as a handbrake that allows you to manage the downhills. It also boasts a state-of-the-art suspension system, a two-step folding design and a massive cargo basket. If you purchase the right adapters you can use it with an infant car seat.

This jogging stroller's biggest flaw is its weight and dimensions when folded. It weighs 25lbs and folds down to 17,850 cubic inches, which is around average for this group of strollers. Its size isn't ideal for tight turns or small trunk spaces, though it has a handle at the back of the basket that can be pulled to fold it into the most compact, flat position.

Despite its size, this stroller remains easy to maneuver. Its front wheel has a locking mechanism that lets you switch it between normal and locked jogging mode. The handlebar is adjustable in height for different parent heights. It has a wide seat which can be reclined to almost flat and a large vinyl peekaboo window.

The Sport Utility also scored a 9/10 for its exceptional quality. It features a sturdy frame made of aluminum with tight connections, no rough edges, and no weak stitching. It also comes with adjustable shocks, which helps with the smooth-rolling performance.

As with the other BOB strollers we've reviewed the Sport Utility has optional car seat adapters that let you use it with a variety of infant car seats. It took us 5 hours and 24 minutes in our tests to assemble the stroller, from unpacking it until it was ready to go. The assembly was simple, but you will need a Philips screwdriver. The manual included is well-organized and clear but it's a good idea to keep one in your the case.

The Baby Trend Expedition

This jogger is built with safety, fashion and convenience as its primary goals. It comes with a parent tray that includes 2 cup holders and covered storage, and a child tray that swings away and has two cup holders. The adjustable canopy that has a peek-a-boo window and the extra-wide ergonomically designed handle provide comfort for both parents. The lockable front swivel wheel on the front can be locked for jogging and unlocked for strolling. The large storage basket is perfect for storing the essential items you need to travel with.

In  Pushchairs And Prams  test program of Consumer Reports, the Baby Trend Expedition Jogger does well overall for the price, and is rated higher than many of its competitors in several categories. This includes the ease of using the 5-point harness, folding and unfolding, adjusting the backrest, activating the brakes on the wheel and infant car seat removal and installation (only for compatible models). It has a simple design with a one-handed recline that is deep enough for napping. However the canopy cover, which ratchets, can be difficult to fix. It takes around 8 minutes to set it up. The instructions are confusing, with several languages mixed up and confusing illustrations.

The only negative about this jogger is that it doesn't come with suspension, so the ride may be bumpier than other all-terrain strollers we've tried. This could make it difficult for children with small hands particularly if their nap is about to start. It does have air-filled tires however they don't offer as much shock absorption as the rubber wheels you find on strollers that are more expensive.

This is a great choice for those who don't exercise often, but still need to be able to easily move over grass or gravel without worrying about obstructions like curbs or other obstacles. It is also a great choice for families with little space, since it folds into a relatively compact unit. It is lighter than many of the other joggers we have tested and can be tucked away in places that large strollers aren't able to.

It's also easier to lift and move than the bulkier joggers that we've tried. This is crucial if it's something you lift out and into your car trunk regularly or if you're constantly moving.

The Nipper Sport V4

Nipper Sport V4 is the most efficient jogger for all terrains. The new version of Out 'n' Around's 3-wheeled running stroller has been specifically made for jogging and has large pneumatic 16'' alloy tyres that can tackle even the most challenging tracks and paths. The Nipper is also lightweight and compact, making it simple to fold and move.

This pushchair comes with a variety of characteristics that make it perfect for all kinds of terrain with front suspension as well as the handlebar brake. It comes with an adjustable quilted liner, as well as a multi-position recline, along with a padded 5-point safety harness and hinged bar. It also works with travel systems, meaning you can use it with a Cybex Maxi-Cosi and Be-Safe baby car seat.

This buggy also has an enormous front wheel that assists in providing a smooth ride for the child. This is particularly important when tackling difficult terrain, as it allows the buggy to better track and glide more easily over bumps and dips. Nipper Sport is easy to drive and comes with one pedal brake. The handlebar is ergonomic in design and a single-pedal easy-lock brake that can be adjusted to suit your needs. The buggy is also easy to fold, and comes with clear step-bystep instructions and illustrations in the user's manual.

The Nipper Sport is suitable for children up to the age of six months, and can be used with a newborn due to its infant insert built-in. However, it's not recommended for use with babies younger than six months, since the harness of the seat isn't tight enough to safely ensure their safety.

This pushchair also lacks a storage basket under the seat. The small shopping bag at the back of seat is not large enough to hold a large changing pouch. It is very easy to open and close. Only two hand-holds are needed to release the plastic catch on either side of the lower frame. The red handlebar comes with another lock that can be retracted by using only one hand.
